Tips Has anyone found a Generic USB cable and/or Charger for the TF101

Has anyone found a supplier that can sell a cheaper alternative to the OEM Cable and or Charger. Asus sells the Cable for $17+, and the Charger/cable for $28.

I just use a USB extension, got it for about $6 online. Make sure it's a USB3.0.

That's nice.
But your reply has nothing to do with the OP and their need for a replacement charger and cable. I'm looking for a spare charger and cable too, but so far haven't found a reliable solution other than ASUS original parts.

My mistake, I skimmed, and figured he was looking for something longer given the extreme shortness of the OEM cable.

Doesn't look like there is anything out there yet. I've been following a thread at XDA and they found a couple of BAD products on eBay & Amazon.

FYI, tried a USB 3.0 powered (ie has a power adapter) hub. Even with the USB 3.0 cable from the TF, it still charges very slowly, so much for that idea :)

I am also looking for a similar solution. My TF USB cable (not the adapter) suddenly stopped working and I am left with no alternative to charge my transformer. I have to wait one week before I get paid and order one online. I was wondering if there was a generic USB cable that I could buy locally. Is any other tablet's charger compatible with transformer's charging port?

The reason it would charge slow is that the Asus power adaptor puts out 2.2 amps at 5 to 15.volts so it would be more of power sorce rather than. Cable

Yeah, I wish a cheaper (and easier to get) 3rd party solution would come out.

My husband has the same tablet. the knuckleheaded dog ate the cable. so my husband in desperation ordered one on ebay. he's a professional geek and he says its fine, works, no problemo. He ordered ONLY the cable, not the charge part of it. (transformer?...that blocky thing..whatever it's called.)
#10 NexusTootsie, Jan 23, 2012 has the charger for the transformer. free shipping, too, if you pick it up from one of their stores.
I got one, and promptly lost it :/

I've purchased from "witglobal technology' via ebay (they are in Hong Kong). Item 320809722144 for $36.99. They include the short cord that attaches to the pad, a wall charger, and car charger that plugs into the 'male' USB connector of the short cord. It takes about two weeks for delivery. Seems OK to me.
This has worked very well and outputs 12v for 'fast' charging. I continue to recomend it.

The TF101 Transformer AC Adapter from Asus is a replacement adapter for the Asus Eee Pad TF101 Transformer Tablet PC. With a fixed power output of 5 volts, the TF101 Transformer AC Adapter is made to match the power standards of the Asus Eee Pad TF101 Transformer Tablet PC. The power cable can be detached from the power plug and be used as a USB connector.

My supplied cable was still fine, however the box itself was messed up. I went to Best Buy and purchased the Dynex Universal AC/DC Charger. It's nice because now I just carry that and my USB for my phone and tablet.

I think the Transformer takes around 13 volts, this one only goes to 11, but it works fine and chargers it just as fast. Plus the cord is wicked long which is nice.

As does Office Depot. It's different than the one that comes with the TF101. It's folding prongs for travel.

Looks like it only outputs 2.4A @ 5V though :(

I wish there was a reliable US distributor of a third party charger. I have replaced mine once already.

The wall charger seemed to run hotter when I used the USB 3.0 extension cable, I am wondering if that may be why mine fried.
