Tips WORLD'S BIGGEST GALAXY S3 BATTERY- ZeroLemon 7000mAh Battery w/Review- add CBA result

Got a review on ZeroLemon 7000mAh Extended Battery for Galaxy S3 I will like to share. Seriously beats Hyperion 4000mah by quite a bit getting screentime in double digits!

Amazon.com: ZeroLemon Samsung Galaxy S III 7000mAh Extended Battery + Free Black Extended TPU Full Edge Protection Case(Compatible with Samsung Galaxy S III GT-i9300, AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 Samsung i747, Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 Samsung i535, T-mobi

This is pretty much a huge battery with an Extended TPU case that Hyperion and Qcell sell on the side for extra 6-8 bucks. The way they acheive larger capacity i'm assuming is that they take full use of the back of the phone physical dimension (in areas such as where microsd is, the battery overlaps it). That's very unique approach that I have not seen another one else has done so far. Since the case covers the battery anayways, you will not notice these throughout regualr day use.

THICKNESS
There is no back hard back plastic cover like the Hyperion one as the extended case does the job in securing the battery in place. A thing to emphasize is that the thickness is literally the same as the Hyperion battery + the extended case or even slightly thinner as there is no hard plastic cover to add the extra thickness. In fact, how they hold the battery is by using the tpu case edges to secure the battery which is quite ingenious. I tend to have problems with those hard plastic covers used by hyperion because it doesn't secure properly and dust goes into the gap. With this zerolemon battery, the problem doesn't exist since there is no such gap.

WEIGHT
Being a bigger battery, you can feel it is slightly heavier by approximately 20g. It's not really noticeable to me because the hyperion battery + TPU case is at most 10 g less than this battery (since the hard cover in the hyperion is 10-15g alone I think) The weight of the phone obviously is heavier than original battery but only around less than 10% heavier than hyperion + tpu case for at least 33% more battery life. If you carry this in a bag, this is very good.

PEFORMANCE
For performance I cannot assess yet as i just got this, but it's been a day and I only got through 70% so far. very impressive since usually 1 day on hyperion for me is 30-40%. I'll give a more detail assessment once I get more use on this.

INITIAL CONCLUSION: TO BE UPDATED ONCE I GET A WEEK USE
It's around 35 bucks for this zerolemon battery right now and I seriously think it's worth it over the hyperion battery. I got the hyperion battery for 26 dollars + the soft extended case for 6 dollars (Total of 32 dollars). It's only essentially 4 bucks more for an increase of 2100mah capacity.
UPDATE: Just saw it at 23.99 USD! Even cheaper than Hyperion's

Just working out to be:
ZeroLemon - 180mAh per dollar -> at 25 USD, this is 262mAh per dollars which is DOUBLE hyperion's capacity per dollar value!
Hyperion + soft case - 131.25 mAh per dollar

Just capacity per dollar this also better value than hyperion's.

UPDATE JAN 21st - After Lake Tahoe snowboard trip with very heavy use of GPS

just confirmed this is truly the monster I've been looking for!

I got ready for my weekend snowboard trip at Lake Tahoe from San Francisco.

Friday
Unplug my phone at 5pm
At 7pm drive up to Tahoe City for 4 and a half hours with medium brightness and GPS on the whole time. (made a quick pitstop at walmart )
Reached Tahoe City at 11:45. Phone is at 70%
Didn't not charge at all overnight

Saturday
Went to snowboarding with GPS on again to Alpine Meadows which is 20 mins away
Went snowboarding all day while listening to music. Reception on top of mountain is a bit weak so may have worked the battery a bit. took lunch break and whatsapp some friends.
Turned on my wifi and start browing internet for a bit in hotel. Forgot to turn it off in between
Did not charge overnight

Sunday
Went to snowboarding with GPS on heading towards Squaw Valley
took a longer break this time and start browsing anandtech and theverge.com for around 30 mins
Headed back to San Francisco which takes another 4 and a half hour with medium brightness and gps on. (made a quick stop for dinner in between)
Did not charge at all overnight

Monday
Return my rental car and used GPS again at medium brightness.

FINAL RESULT

-Battery finally finished by 12pm with 2d 16h 32m total use
- 13h 33m screen time on the battery at medium brightness (I set it back to medium brightness even when the battery is at critical level)
- GPS on for 10h and 36m

All this and not a single charge during the weekend. This is the weekend warrior battery I've been looking for. Hyperion does ok but dies usually by Sunday morning.

One interesting thing to note is that when the battery is at 3%, it will stay there for relatively longer than usual. I'm guessing it's the phone's OS not able to calculate the battery percentage correctly being so big of an battery.

This battery seems to do even better than at 7000mAh capacity. I threw this battery in my CBA tester tonight to check the exact capacity and post some results once it's done

UPDATE on CBA test:

The battery is rated at 6510mAh and below is the graph. Very good stuff

just ordered one from amazon so I can verify your results.

My hyperion 4300mAh battery ended up being nowhere near 4300mAh.

$25$ plus $10 for 2 day shipping for a 6300mAh battery is not bad. I don't care about thickness really. if this will last me 3 days of text/pandora and internet then consider me thrilled.

will report back....

The only thing holding the phone together is a tpu case?

#5 Gmash, Feb 11, 2013
Yes and it holds tight. It's a good idea rather than those flimsy covers on other extended batteries

#6 Frypan, Feb 11, 2013
sounds great but any idea if there are any other places you can get it besides amazon? Amazon refuses to ship it to me. I googled around and only seem to get the amazon link.

I completely get why some folks would like a big battery, but I ended up going back to stock size. Got tired of the extra thick size of the device with the Hyperion and like using the clam shell case with built-in stand. I simply carry a charged 2100 mah battery in my wallet as a back-up.

The 6300 would be way too big since the 4000 mah got old for me. Three times the thickness of stock would be mega-chunga. That might be classed as a weapon in some territories ;)

I bought one, mine should be here today, I'll report an give somewhat of a review.

imagine a regular 6300 mah battery no bulge or nothing i would spend moo-la on that lolz

#11 mannyfbaby, Feb 12, 2013
Again, some people like myself prefer a thicker phone as they are actualy more comfortable when holding..... A super ginormous battery is more important to some of us than the sleekest thinnest phone possible.

#12 nyrmetros, Feb 12, 2013
So how long does it take to charge this battery from close to 0%. Jw.

#13 MannyrtFresh, Feb 12, 2013
I just ordered this for the hell of it. Hope it's good. My Hyperion battery dies on me.

#14 nyrmetros, Feb 12, 2013
for $25 it's worth a try......

Just using my GORILLA GADGETS 4500 & MUGEN 4600 charge times as a gauge compared to the stock OEM 2100 mAh battery,I'd say the ZEROLEMON 6300 mAh battery would take approximately 5-6 hrs for a 0-100% charge, using the stock SGS III charger.

I purchased one of these batteries as well and I'm unsure if I'm going to keep it. You can only fit it under the cheap case it comes with and it's about as blahhhh as they come. I've been using an EZOpower battery for a while now and I get unreal battery life out of it. I don't think I want to give up my nice seidio case setup for this, though I really want to keep the battery. I wish I could make it work with the seidio case but there's no way unless I mod the crap out of it. I'll cut up cheap cases but not my seidio. If you can't tell from the pics, it's 3 battery linked together. It's kind of in an "L" shape so it goes down the back of the phone towards the bottom.

Sounds like a good battery. I have the Gorilla Gadgets 4500 and I am happy with that. I get 8 hours of screen time with it. I don't really like extended batteries because of the extra bulk.

#18 mak916, Feb 12, 2013

Are you talking about the extended battery seidio case with the kick stand? I read some that this battery can fit that case if you don't use a battery cover at all. I'm hoping that's the case cause I plan on buying that case an using it with this battery. If you have that case, would you mind giving it a try? I just don't want that case to be a 50 dollar mistake.

#19 Heavyweightgd6, Feb 12, 2013
Negative. I did try it without the back, case only and it wasn't even close. Sorry. :(

I am glad that I have a charger at home and the office so no need to have such a massive battery .. even without a charger in the office it still lasts at least a day and it sits on a charger over night anyway ...

Don't get the obsession with long (talking 1+ day here) battery times :) :)

Each to their own of course ..

Thats seems not apples to apples- Pointing out that people liking a fat phone like it due to better comfort when holding and that other folks want the thinnest phones they can get.

I have a fat battery and went back to stock since works with the clamshell case system and I prefer the feel as such in my hand. Pure functional consideration and not a style/bling thing. I have a battery in my wallet if I need it :)

Seems the perfect set-up would be a 3200 battery that has a clamshell system :) 2100 is too small for a device llike this (if a heavy user), so that I agree with.

#22 rushmore, Feb 13, 2013
Frypan, are you the manufacturer of this battery? Only reason I ask is the Amazon listing shows the same usage pictures you do in this post.

If so, probably should have stated that, as it comes across like you are a user with a non-biased experience, and that is probably not the case...

I'm guessing it is. This exact same post is on XDA from member name Frypan. This isn't to say that this post isn't welcome, but it should be stated if OP is or is not affiliated. Regardless though, I'm glad he posted.
I just wish I could get this battery to fit under my seidio case!

#24 wraithevolution, Feb 13, 2013

Thanks, what batteries can fit that seidio case?
