Candace Locklear » Partner, Mighty PR
Candace has been working in high tech public relations since moving to San Francisco from the Carolina coast in 1996, starting with GCI Group and mega-accounts like Sun Microsystems and Oracle before taking MP3.com public in 2000. At the same time, she volunteered her PR skills to Burning Man, creating the event’s first press kit for the event and growing the media team to 80 people. In 2001, Candace joined Openwave to manage CXO communications, and worked with global mobile operators and OEMs to bring WAP browsing to the mainstream. Mighty partner Rebecca Fuller convinced her to join Sparkpr in 2005, where Candace started and grew the mobile practice represented by EA Mobile, Good Technology, Symbian Foundation and Skype, as well as upstarts such as Tapulous (now Disney Mobile), GetJar, Trolltech (now Nokia), Skyfire, Flipboard and INQ Mobile.
